Pankhurst Mosaic on Afflecks

14th Sep 2017

I was delighted to be asked by Afflecks if Mark Kennedy could make a mosaic of my Pankhurst print to join the other mosaics on Tib Street. As I use the streets of the city as my free bee gallery this is the 1st permanent installation of my work in Manchester.

It was unveiled in the week the People's History Museum brought a historic suffragette banner back to Manchester, which was partially crowdfunded. Next year is the centenary of the Women’s right to vote so I have more work planned on this theme.

To celebrate the installation and the forthcoming 100th anniversary, Afflecks are running a twitter competition where they are asking women to stand beneath the mosaic and take a selfie and then tweet it to @afflecksfox and @pankhurstcentre with hashtag ‘I would rather be a rebel than a slave’. When 100 entries are submitted they will pick a winner who will win Afflecks vouchers and 1 of 5 Mancsy prints.
